Tips and Strategies FE / EIT Exam Review
  1. Tips
    1. You have prepared well – try to be relaxed so you can do your best work
    2. NEVER GIVE UP!!!
      STAY AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO FILL IN ALL THE BLANKS!!
    3. Know the date, time, and location of the test
    4. Prepare what you are going to take -
      ID, ticket, calculator(s), watch/clock, earplugs, water, handkerchief, Kleenex, etc.
      No digital devices!! They will give you pencils and erasers.
      1. Be comfortable - Bring a pillow to sit on, Dress in layers
      2. Relax the night before. Eat a good dinner. Get to bed early.
        Plan something to do after the test is over.
      3. Get up early.
        Eat a good breakfast (not too much coffee or tea). Pack a good lunch.
      4. Leave so you have plenty of time to get to the test site
    5. Make sure you know how to use (not use) your calculator effectively.
      Make sure you have adequately charge or new batteries.
  2. Strategies
    1. Engineering Exam not a College Exam
    2. Don't waste time. Read the questions carefully.
    3. No penalty for guessing. Don’t leave anything blank Leave time to finish answer sheet.
      1. Know what your strategy will be for marking the answer page. DON'T leave anything blank!
      2. 20-30min before the end of the exam, answer all questions.
      3. Check your answers at the last 5 to 10 minutes of the exam?

    4. Read the through the exam, answer easy questions first.
      Immediately mark any answer (guess) on questions that you really have no idea on. Go to your "best" section first.
    5. Know your best multiple choice/guess question strategy – elimination, directly, work backwards, dimensional analysis, educated guess
    6. Review of exam format
      1. Morning Test – General 120 questions, 4 hours Approx 2min per question
        Questions are grouped by subject Index on back – do your best part first
        Your brain will be most effective for the first 90 min.
      2. No penalty for guessing. Don’t leave anything blank Leave time to finish answer sheet.
      3. Lunch – Relax Do NOT talk about the test
        Stay on site – MAKE SURE YOU ARE BACK ON TIME!!!!
      4. Afternoon Test – General or Discipline specific choice
        60 questions, 4 hours Approx 4min per question Questions are grouped
        You can take some time to choose but don’t waste time
        Your brain is most effective during the first 30-45 min.
